Basic! I Don't Think So...

Updated: Aug 29, 2022

It's not so basic summer blog hop with Michael Miller basics fabric line. These fabrics are wonderful and they have several lines that they keep in stock all the time to mix and match with new lines coming out. There is quite a variety and they are so versatile.

Check out all of the fabulous lines at Michael Mill Fabrics.

So for this summer basics blog hop, I chose to work with three lines. I chose Fairy Frost, Coco and Gingham Play.

I used Fairy Frost in my new quilt Block And Roll. I chose 9 beautiful sparkly and shimmery colors ranging in blues (Sea Foam, Oasis, Whirlpool and Mosaic), pinks (Carnation, Garden, and Flower) and purples(Wild berry and Venus). These colors pop beautifully with the background fabric used from the Coco line. The Coco line has beautiful cross hatches in it to give it a fun texture. I used a gorgeous grey called, Smoke for the contrasting fabric and a beautiful blue called Caribbean for the backing. The quilt is designed for beginners or to make quickly which uses different squares and rectangles. It is 50"x50" in size when finished. It is perfect for a play mat, picnic or as a lap quilt while watching television.

If you would like to make this quilt, you can find the pattern here.

I also was lucky enough to have another one of my projects highlighted in the blog. My Maderia Mesh Beach Bag utilized the fun Gingham Play line. I used pink and carnation in both of these bags. It is a line with tiny checks or a gingham design. This is not your grandmother's gingham though. It has a bit of movement in it and is not rigid but playful as the name suggests. I thought this would work perfectly with my Madeira Mesh Beach Bag pattern. The pattern is also a quick sew. This bag is great for lounging at the pool, beach or going to a nice park. Not only can you pack your goodies in it or collect shells, but you can use it as a backpack! I made several for family members.

If you would like to make up one of these cute bags, you can find the pattern here.

All of the Michael Miller basics fabric lines have a multitude of colors to choose from and this variety is perfect for matching them up to use in any project. These are fantastic blenders that you want to have in your fabric stash. They are versatile and can be used in your next favorite project.
